About Jing Jiao Dojo
At the Jing Jiao Dojo we teach Jing Jiao Kwan Hapkido and Tendo-Ryu AikiKarate. This dojo exists in large part to be a place where anyone can find quality training at a reasonable cost. Our focus is primarily on skills and training applicable for self-defense with a secondary emphasis on cultural preservation. While our dojo does not focus on competition, we do encourage advanced students who are willing to put in the extra work to fight within the MMA ruleset to test their learned skills against fighters of other traditions. We are currently seeking 501c3 status and currently meet in Lynnwood's Spruce Park
At The Jing Jiao Dojo, Sensei "Joe" Lee ShenYu Teaches Hapkido under the Kuk Sool Hwe Lineage of Grand Master Kim Woo-Tak transmitted through Grand Master Huh Mongil to Grand Master Mike Dunchok who in turn taught Sensei Joe. This lesser-known Lineage is difficult to learn and filled with many challenging but severely brutal techniques which are designed for quickly and efficiently neutralizing threats. That, combined with the average lack of body awareness of most young aspirants to the martial arts means that Sifu Joe's focus for training is therefore a combination of the seemingly contrary notions of "trial by fire" and "ease them into it".
Sensei Joe also offers an AikiKarate class for those who are too young to learn Hapkido or who would prefer to focus on fewer techniques to a higher level of perfection. Tendo-Ryu AikiKarate is Sensei Joe's own creation: developed as a response to the needs he saw while working in the security industry and at other dojos, Sensei Joe took the 4 most effective Okinawan karate katas and fused them with the 8 highest percentage grappling techniques from Aiki Jujutsu to create a thoroughly effective ancient-modern self defense system.
